Open space and beach frontage with views to the escarpment, could there be a more quintessential Illawarra setting? We’re working with a Sydney couple to design and build their ‘simple pleasures’ home almost right on the sand at Macauley’s Beach in Thirroul.
This hardworking couple own a business in Sydney and are ready for a seachange. What better place to land than in a beautiful corner of Thirroul.
Having purchased a spacious block with uninterrupted outlook over Macauley’s Beach in Thirroul, this couple came to us with a request for a ‘simple’ house, not fancy or extravagant, but a home that would allow them to celebrate the incredible location and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
A light-filled ground floor was high on our design brief for this home, so a void was included at the entry, with an oversized window on the upper level capturing the morning light and flooding the living areas below.
A feature we’re noticing more and more in houses we build (a reflection of how smart our clients are!) is future-proofing additions to the home. This home incorporates a lift, ensuring that no matter how tired our client’s legs are after a long jog on the beach, they’ll be able to get upstairs with no problem.
With an open kitchen, dining and living downstairs overlooking the adjacent bushland, the lower level also features a guest bedroom with private access, walk-in robe and ensuite – ideal for family members.
Upstairs are three more bedrooms plus a second living opening to a knock-out balcony spanning the 13-metre width of the home with an incredible uninterrupted beach and ocean outlook.
Consistent with our couple’s no-fuss attitude, this home is cooled with ceiling fans and ocean breezes.
