A premium example of what can be achieved when the client, designers and builders work together in unison. This knock-out beauty above the bay has it all, despite an unassuming façade.
Most GN Williams homes, including this one, are built for between $500,000 and $1.5million.
This family with teenage children wanted a large resort-style home with a spacious kitchen and living that would flow to outdoor entertaining spaces. They had their hearts set on a pool overlooking Port Hacking.
The design team ticked the pool off the wish list first, devising a large infinity-edge pool on the sandstone cliff edge. A traditional hipped roof with feature exposed rafters complement feature timber posts and raked timber ceilings in the alfresco area. A two-storey silicon joint window in the stair and hallway void allows for uninterrupted views. A large underground cellar with spiral staircase and travertine walls finishes off this luxury home.
A narrow block meant no access for large trucks, so the build team got creative with deliveries and machinery. The huge concrete pool was very complex and needed to be poured in two stages, with the southern edge 3m out of the ground. Large sandstone excavation took place for the underfloor rumpus and cellar, and sandstone boulders from the work were used to construct a level platform for the pool. Rendered brickwork and extensive glazing finish this home off to the quality it demands.
