This unmissable home is a shining star in the heart of Wollongong. Bursting with unique character touches, it’s a perfect example of how you can incorporate bags of character into a newly built home.
Most GN Williams homes, including this one, are built for between $500,000 and $1.5million.
This artistic and family-minded couple wanted a character-filled home to showcase their eclectic artwork and furniture, but more importantly, to comfortably accommodate their family when they visit. With impeccable taste and a desire to find the perfect flooring (they imported both the timber and carpet floorings) and vintage touches (including door handles salvaged from the original old apartments on the site), a custom home was the only way to go for this unique home.
The layout of this house works beautifully to expand for extended family when needed. The owners can live almost exclusively on the top floor, with kitchen, living, master bedroom, ensuite and a gorgeous large balcony with ocean views. On the middle floor, children and grandchildren are very comfortable with three more bedrooms (two leading onto a balcony), a second living space with direct access to the yard and pool, and even a pantry space with a fridge for essentials. A wide foyer filled with artwork is an impressive taste to come when you enter home.
The existence of old apartments on this steep block, complete with four garages on the entry level, allowed us to achieve permission for a vast garage space for this family – providing essential parking on a busy beachside city street. The garage is engineering to have no structural columns holding up the two floors above, creating an awesome wide open space.
