Bathroom Design Inspiration

  • 24 October 2019
Bathrooms can be as simple or luxe as you wish, and we design bathrooms in our custom homes that cover the spectrum from all-white to filled with texture and colour. Here are a few GN Williams bathrooms to give you some inspiration to start thinking about your own. As you can see, the sky is the limit!

GN Williams Design Studio Bathroom

Wollongong home designer GN Williams, design studio bathroom

The design studio bathroom was designed in conjunction with Casey Dorling Design, who assists all our clients in the choice of their exterior colour scheme, and is available for further assistance if needed. Casey helped us create this fresh, bright space with the use of a few key features.

This space is a rectangle shape, which allowed us to construct the nib wall towards the back. What you can’t see in this photo is that the toilet is hidden behind the wall. Nice touch, don’t you think?

The freestanding bath is modern with clean lines, and a feature is created with the extended niche wrapped around the corner. A round mirror and pendant create interest, and the clean look is softened with the timber feature vanity. The tiling is clean and simple, with only a small amount of feature tiling used in the bath niche. Note that the tiling on the wall behind the vanity stops around 1.2metres high, saving on tiling costs and creating different textures in the room. Simple natural greenery sets off this look – we love it!

Gipps St Wollongong Bathroom

Sometimes what’s old is new, and… you get the idea. The choice of a built-in bath in this gorgeous bathroom is as unusual as modern freestanding baths probably were 5 or 10 years ago! Wha a great decision that was, creating a bold statement and an opportunity to run the dark floor tiles up the side of the bath for some wow factor.

The shaker style cabinetry in this bathroom matches back perfectly with the cabinetry in the kitchen, and even the little basket actually looks just like the carpet in this home! But really, who could look past the amazing feature wall of teeny tiny marble tiles, and that incredible beaded pendant in the wet area.

The bathrooms in this home are finished as the rest of the house is, with lovely personal touches from the owner’s art collection, and even vintage finds including the mirror below. Love it.

Cassell Ave Towradgi Bathroom

Contrasting floor files continue up the back wall of the main bathroom in our Towradgi home, creating drama and an ideal darker backdrop for the crisp white feature bath. You can imagine if that wall was covered in white tiles, the beautiful lines of the bath wouldn’t stand out as they do here.

Two basins on the vanity are not unusual these days, and in a shared bathroom they can ease the traffic flow in the morning rush! The lovely curved basins in this house flow beautifully with the curve of the bath. When choosing a wall-mounted vanity and especially with above-mount basins, you can opt for whatever height works for you. It’s worth having a think (and a measure) to consider what is most comfortable for you and your family. This bathroom also features a recessed shaving cabinet mirror. Too much storage is never enough.

The Esplanade Thirroul Bathroom

Creating flow from one room to the next is the key to achieving a harmonious designer-finish in a home. One trick for creating flow is to include similar elements in different rooms. You can see in our Thirroul home here that the gorgeous deep matt black tapware matches back to the pendant in the hallway. Clever!

The flooring also gives a consistent feel in tone from the timber floorboards to the bathroom tiles. This bathroom is kept quite simple, allowing the knockout marble scale tiles and the black tapware to sing. You can see again in the photo below, the ensuite in the same home keeps the consistency with the black, including the bed base in the background.

Point St Bulli Bathroom

Bath in the ensuite? Don’t mind if I do! The luxe floor to ceiling tiling in this bathroom is stunning but could feel a little cold; the masterstroke was adding the timber vanity to add the perfect amount of warmth and texture. It also works with the timber bench in the bedroom.
